and CM5 is not a proper drop-in replacement:

EA9 is at the End of Life December 2025 or when ADC runs out of stock, Supply Chain, Uncertain Prices, Uncertain Delivery. Even on CM5 substitute, tariffs could be as high as 55%. Worst total decoupling, no availability of any automation controls made in China.

CM5 is not an appropriate drop-in replacement and is really made in China and transshipped to Japan. It's boot up time is 3x slower than EA9 or EZ3 and many customers complain about its limited memory.

Current CM5 price is not sustainable. It will go up in price if Made in Japan. This price is not sustainable as Japanese Manufacturing Labor Rate of $35/hr., same as US, is 16 times higher than China’s Labor Rate of $2/hr.

For EA9 10”, ADC states on their Website: "Product stock is expected to be available through 2025. Once stock is depleted, this product will be discontinued. Please consider CM5-T12W as a comparable replacement. (Mounts in same cutout)." EZ5 10” is 28.7% lower in cost than CM5 12” and it's aspect ratio is the same as the original EA9 and not wide angle like CM5.

For EA9 8” , ADC states on their Website: "Product stock is expected to be available through 2025. Once stock is depleted, this product will be discontinued. Please consider CM5-T10W as a comparable replacement. (Mounts in same cutout)." EZ5 8” is 11.6% lower in cost than CM5 10” and it's aspect ratio is the same as the original EA9 and not wide angle like CM5.

EA9 not acceptable to CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) Pentagon is well aware of the threat of spy chips inside any automation controls manufactured in China.

CM5 10” does not fit in the same hole pattern as EA9 10” and it is 20% smaller

No direct replacement for EA9 8”, EA9 12” and EA9 15”.

Screens have to be redesigned as CM5 has a different aspect ratio. Many text objects get cut in half due to shorter width of the screen.

EA9 programs written before May 9, 2022 (Firmware 6.72 or earlier) cannot be converted to CM5.

EZ3 Screen Brightness increased to 800 nits, EZ5 Screen Brightness increased to 500 nits and screen resolution taken to the next level.

EZ3 is a direct drop in replacement for EA9 ↓

For example, Ethernet I/P on one side and Modbus RTU on the other side communicating to a motor drive. Tags are automatically converted. This allows the two networks to communicate to each other through EZTouch.

Unique Visibility tag prevents objets from cluttering. All EZTouch HMis have an extremely innovative Visibility tag on all objects. Object appears on the screen only if the visibility tag is true.
